Lynchburg, VA - Truck Haul Waste Attendant - $12.25/HR

DESCRIPTION:

This job is receiving tanker trucks that unload various liquids at the wastewater treatment plant such as: leachate/septic tank/grease loads. The Truck Haul Waste Attendant will be doing various related tasks like cleaning and washing down areas as well assisting others around the plant. 

The starting schedule will be Monday-Friday from 11 AM - 7 PM. Hours, days off, and designated shift times can vary. 


 ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
:

  • Collect and ensure manifests are filled out correctly;

  • Fill out data sheets;

  • Enter load information into the computer;

  • Collect and transport liquid samples;

  • Run lab tests (i.e. PH levels);

  • Clean, adjust, and calibrate various instruments;

  • Set up and unload wastewater samples.


ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Other duties to provide direct or indirect service to the citizens may be assigned.

The Truck Haul Waste Attendant may also fill in or be assigned as a Tank Cleaner Custodian/Grounds Worker.

QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

Education and Experience: Completion of tenth grade and/or experience with custodian work; equivalent combination of education and experience 

Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effective present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization

Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving few concrete variables in standardized situations

Interpersonal Skills: Ability to apply common courtesy and basic communication skills to work within a team environment. Ability to communicate routine factual matters and exchange information.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • A valid Virginia’s Driver’s License is preferred but optional;

  • Must have approved access to a telephone and reliable transportation to work.
