SUCCESS TIP #9

Family! What in the world is going on? My name is Walter Virgil and this is ESS Success.

This is a platform that kinda gives me an opportunity just to be able to share some really cool tips with you guys that I really believe that, if you apply them, they’re really going to work for you. My whole focus is to be able to ensure that you’re making the best possible impression. As you guys continue to tune in, I’m gonna give you guys tips because there’s something that I’m going to continuously be sharing with you guys, and that is simply this:

Every great opportunity is connected to someone of authority that can give you access into that opportunity!
— Walter Virgil Jr

And so for that reason, making the right impression has everything to do with it.

Today’s tip is: follow up with applications!

It’s so easy to press submit, right? And leave it at that, or go into an office and fill it out and hand it to them and that’s it. No, man! It’s important that you follow up with the application. Follow through is really everything and that’s one of the main things that an employer is looking for. Are you someone that’s going to see a job all the way through? You can begin to start making that impression with how you handle your application.

Don’t be pushy! But it’s everything for you to be able to call a couple of days later and say, “Hey! Listen, my name is Walter Virgil. I came into the office the other day--”

It’s also really good if you could remember the person in the office that helped you out. “Yeah, this is Walter Virgil. I had a chance to talk to Wendy--”

Or you know what? Wendy might actually even pick up the phone! That makes it even better! Especially if you acted like a nice person when you came into the office. Let’s say Wendy picks up the phone, right? And you say:

“Hey, how you doing? This is Walter Virgil.”

And she says, “Hey, how you doing? This is Wendy.”

“Oh, Wen--Yeah, no, I remember you from the office! Yeah! Hey, how you doing?” Now you’ve made it personal. “I’m not calling to bother you guys, I know you guys are super busy, but I just wanted to check up on the application. Do you know if anybody got a chance to check it out? I want to make sure that I did everything right because I really feel like your organization is really the right place for me. I really enjoyed being there, I really liked the energy, and yeah, I just wanted to know what it is that I can do to be able to ensure that I can get an opportunity to really start working for you guys?”

Something along those lines! You don’t gotta talk like I talk, but something along those lines. It communicates all the right things: that you see the value in the opportunity, you respect it, and you want to do all the things necessary to make it happen.

So, follow up on the application! Just don’t submit it, that’s not enough. You’ve got to separate yourself from your competition.

I hope that helped. If you enjoyed this content, do me a favor: share it with somebody!

This is ESS Success, and I’m going to be coming every week with one of these things. Hopefully you guys were blessed by it.

My name is Walter Virgil. I look forward to seeing you again, alright?

Peace.
